Buffalo Police have announced multiple gun-related arrests this week, including a significant apprehension stemming from a search warrant on the city’s West Side. These incidents have resulted in several individuals facing various gun and drug charges, reinforcing the ongoing efforts to address criminal activity in Buffalo.
First Case: Arrest of Michael Block Following West Side Search Warrant
In one key incident, a Buffalo man was apprehended following the execution of a search warrant on the 300 block of 14th Street. Police recovered three firearms, narcotics, and thousands of dollars in cash from a residence on the West Side. The Wednesday operation led to the arrest of 25-year-old Michael Block.
During the search, officers seized a significant amount of evidence, including 25 grams of crack cocaine, 2.7 grams of cocaine, a bottle of liquid codeine, and over $5,600 in cash. The recovered weapons were identified as a Glock 17 loaded with nine rounds, a North American Arms .22 Magnum loaded with five rounds, and a Glock 22 .40 caliber loaded with 14 rounds and equipped with a high-capacity magazine. Police confirmed that the Glock 22 had been reported as a stolen firearm.
Michael Block faces serious accusations, including two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and three felony counts of criminal possession of a firearm, among other charges.
Second Case: Arrest of Justis Ward After Responding to a Gun Call
In a separate incident Monday evening, Buffalo Police responded to a gun call on the 400 block of Goethe Street. Arriving shortly before 7 p.m., officers observed a group of men gathered around a vehicle and noted a firearm in plain view.
Police recovered a Taurus G2C from the vehicle. Justis Ward, 20, of Amherst, was subsequently arrested and charged with one felony count of criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the incident.
These two incidents underscore the ongoing efforts by Buffalo Police to combat illegal gun possession and drug-related criminal activities across the community. The arrests serve as a clear reminder of the severe legal consequences for those found in criminal possession of prohibited substances and firearms in Western New York.
