CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A late-night disturbance at the Walden Galleria complex resulted in the arrest of two Buffalo women following reports of a massive brawl involving dozens of individuals. The Cheektowaga Police Department confirmed that charges have been filed following the Sunday night incident near the Aloha Krab Cajun Seafood & Bar.
Massive Altercation Reported Near Mall Property
Just after 11 p.m. on Sunday, emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls describing a chaotic scene on mall property. Callers reported a large-scale fight involving as many as 50 people in front of the Aloha Krab Cajun Seafood & Bar, located just outside the main Walden Galleria entrance. This incident is the latest in a series of local news reports highlighting safety concerns in high-traffic retail areas.
Rapid Police Response and Crowd Control
Upon arrival, Cheektowaga patrol units encountered a crowd of approximately 100 people gathered in the parking lot. While officers did not witness active fighting at the time of their arrival, they worked quickly to disperse the crowd, successfully clearing the area by 11:30 p.m. Although subsequent 911 calls suggested further altercations in the vicinity, investigators determined those reports were unfounded.
Two Buffalo Residents Facing Assault Charges
Shortly after the initial crowd was cleared, a woman contacted police to report she had been physically assaulted inside the restaurant by two other individuals. Following a brief investigation at the scene, officers located and apprehended 23-year-old Alexis Nelson and 27-year-old Latoya Cheatom. Both suspects are residents of Buffalo and have been charged with 3rd-degree assault.
Investigation Into Motive Continues
The victim sustained physical injuries during the encounter, though authorities have confirmed they are not life-threatening. At this stage, the specific motive behind the assault remains under investigation. Police noted that a private event may have been taking place at the establishment on Sunday night, which contributed to the size of the gathering.
